British Patient Capital response to Investing in Women Code annual report

Christine Hockley, Managing Director, Funds at British Patient Capital said in response to the Investing in Women Code annual report:

The Investing in Women Code report continues to demonstrate there is a clear link between gender diversity in senior roles at VC firms and the capital going to female entrepreneurs and women-led businesses. As the data shows, when investment teams have 50% or more female members, teams with at least one female founder are more likely to reach Investment Committee stage. So, while there is encouraging evidence of progress shown in this latest report and I am proud to be a part of driving this change, there is much more we can achieve to level the playing field for female founders.

As one of the first Limited Partners to sign the Investing in Women Code, British Patient Capital remains committed to supporting the advancement of female entrepreneurship. This includes our most recent €25m investment in fellow Code signatory, Blume Equity, which is a female owned and led firm that backs companies tackling climate change.

The VC ecosystem has a vital role to play in improving access to finance for future generations of female entrepreneurs, and in supporting junior female investment talent to climb up the ranks. Doing so is a win-win for both diversity and returns.
